PM Modi to Address Nation: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 PM today. While there has been no official statement regarding the subject of his address, it is expected that he will speak on several important issues. This address comes at a time when the new GST regime and the revised H-1B visa rules are about to come into effect. Therefore, it is expected that the PM may provide some important information regarding these two major issues.
New GST rates to come into effect tonight
The new GST rates will come into effect in the country tonight. The GST Council had approved the new rates on September 3. Under this, the two existing GST rates of 12% and 28% will be abolished and replaced by two new rates of 5% and 18%. Additionally, a 40% ‘sin tax’ will be levied on tobacco and luxury products. This change is expected to lead to lower prices for hair oil, toothpaste, clothing, shoes, and many other daily essentials, providing significant relief to the general public. This change is taking place during the auspicious occasion of Navratri, and it is expected that the PM will also address this and extend his greetings to the nation.
They could also discuss the new rules for H-1B visas.
Another issue that Prime Minister Modi could address is the new H-1B visa policy of the United States. US President Donald Trump announced on September 19 that a hefty fee of $100,000 would be imposed for H-1B visas, which could negatively impact Indian tech companies and professionals working in the US. This new rule poses a significant threat to the jobs and careers of skilled Indian professionals, and the Prime Minister could offer some reassurance or information on this matter.
PM Modi extended greetings on Mahalaya
Prime Minister Modi also extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Mahalaya on Sunday. He tweeted, “Best wishes to all of you on Mahalaya! As the auspicious days of Durga Puja approach, may our lives be filled with light and purpose.” He prayed to Goddess Durga to bless everyone with strength, happiness, and good health.
Wishing you all Shubho Mahalaya! As the sacred days of Durga Puja draw near, may our lives be filled with light and purpose. May the divine blessings of Maa Durga bring unwavering strength, lasting joy and wonderful health.
