According to Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, there is a lot of traffic in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. In such a situation, there is no more space for vehicles on the road. A pod taxi project is being planned so that people do not get stuck in traffic. There is no space left on the ground, so now everything will happen in the air, there is also a plan for pod taxi and ropeway.
Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that the way pod taxi work is going on in Baroda, Gujarat, on the same lines, the government has a plan for pod taxi in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
What is a pod taxi?
Pod taxi is like an electric car that runs without a driver. The special thing is that it runs automatically without a driver and can take people from one place to another at a very high speed. About 8 passengers can sit in the pod taxi at a time and 13 other passengers can travel standing.
Earlier, the Maharashtra government had decided to run a pod taxi service to solve the traffic problem between Kurla and Bandra. For this, there is a plan to prepare a special route 25 to 30 meters below the ground between Kurla railway station and Bandra railway station.
Pod taxis will run in Noida
Apart from Mumbai, there are plans to run pod taxis in Noida as well. A decision has been taken to build it from the airport to Pari Chowk in Noida. With the introduction of pod taxis, about 37,000 passengers will be able to travel daily in these new age modern pod taxis. Its route will be 28 km long and will have 12-14 stations.
