Karnataka DGP Dr. M.A. Salim has taken a significant initiative to boost police morale and foster a positive work culture. Police officers in the state will now be able to take a day off on their birthdays or marriage anniversaries.
Birthdays and wedding anniversaries hold special significance in everyone’s life. However, for police officers, these special days are often overlooked by duty. However, the situation in Karnataka has changed. Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. M.A. Saleem has issued a directive stating that police officers requesting leave on their birthdays and anniversaries should not be denied leave.
DGP’s Innovative Initiative
The DGP, in a departmental notification, stated that celebrating personal occasions like birthdays and wedding anniversaries is crucial for police officers working to maintain public safety and law and order under challenging circumstances. Taking leave on these special days helps officers and personnel emotionally recharge, spend quality time with family, and maintain a balance between duty and personal life. This boosts morale, reduces stress, and increases overall work satisfaction and productivity.
Policemen are excited
The letter further states that this humanitarian act not only recognizes their sacrifices but also enhances loyalty and strengthens the commitment of the police force, ensuring better discipline and performance in service. In this context, all unit officers have been instructed to grant leave to police officers and personnel requesting leave on the occasion of birthdays and wedding anniversaries.
It should be noted that this new initiative by the Karnataka DGP has generated tremendous enthusiasm among the police personnel.
