Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana: 1 crore Gas Connections to be distributed for free this year, benefit from this scheme

In the Budget 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced to distribute one crore new connections under the Ujjwala scheme. Under the Ujjwala scheme, LPG connections are distributed free of cost to families falling below the poverty line. According to the Economic Times report, 83 million LPG connections have been distributed under this scheme till 31 January 2021. As per the budget announcement, new gas connections will be distributed in those states and regions in the current financial year where it has less access.

In this, the subsidy of Rs 1,600 is given directly by the government and the oil companies give the remaining amount of Rs 1,600, but the customers have to pay Rs 1,600 to the oil companies in the form of EMI.

How to apply for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana?

Under the Ujjwala scheme, a woman from the BPL family can apply to get a gas connection. For this, you have to fill the KYC form and submit it to the nearest LPG center. For application in Ujjwala scheme, a 2 page form, required documents, name, address, Jan Dhan bank account number, Aadhaar number etc. are required. While applying, you also have to tell whether you want to take 14.2 kg cylinder or 5 kg.

What documents are necessary for Ujjwala scheme?

  • BPL card authorized by Panchayat Officer or Municipal Corporation President
  •  BPL Ration Card
  • Photo ID (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID)
  • Passport Size Photo
  • Ration card copy
  • Self-declaration form verified by Gazetted Officer (Gazetted Officer)
  •  LIC policy, bank statement
  •  Print out name in BPL list
  •  Other important things for Ujjwala scheme
  • The name of the applicant should be in the data of SECC-2011.
  •  Applicant should be a woman whose age is not less than 18 years.
  •  Women should be from BPL family.
  •  It is mandatory for a woman to have a savings account in a national bank.
  • There should not be any LPG connection in the applicant’s house in the name of anyone.
  • Applicant should have BPL card and and BPL ration card.
