Indian Railway Services Downtime: Important news for rail passengers. On November 22nd, train ticket booking services in Delhi will be disrupted for a few hours. Some services of the Passenger Reservation System in Delhi will be out of service on this day. Consequently, you will not be able to use ticket booking, cancellation, and inquiry-related services.

PRS services will be temporarily suspended for approximately five hours due to the replacement of the old core switch with the new one. You may experience difficulties using some important services from 11:45 am on November 22nd to 4:45 pm on November 23rd. The Railways has selected non-peak hours for the core switch change. During non-peak hours, people use railway services less.
PRS service passengers receive these benefits.

During the transition from the old to the new core switch, you will not be able to use ticket cancellation, current reservation, chart making process services, internet ticket booking, PRS status inquiry, e-DR, and PRIMES applications. The core switch is a vital part of the railway network, helping to keep data fast and secure. PRS services allow passengers to book tickets from anywhere. This service eliminates the need to wait in long queues.

Using this service, passengers can book reserved and unreserved tickets on passenger trains. This simplifies the entire ticket booking process and helps passengers plan ahead.

How do you use the PRS service?

To use the PRS service, you need to download the IRCTC website and the IRCTC Rail Connect app. Passengers must create an account on the website or app, and then access ticket booking.

The cold is gradually spreading across North India, and as a result, dense fog reduces the speed of trains. If you are planning to travel, the Railways have canceled several trains.

The fog is so intense from night to morning that all trains are running hours late. According to the Railways, a total of 24 trains on major routes, including Patna, Ambala, Prayagraj, Amritsar, Kamakhya, Kolkata, Ajmer, and Howrah, have been completely canceled for three months. The cancellation of these trains will inconvenience millions of passengers from several states, including Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam. All these trains will not run from December 1st to February 28th.

The Railways has also reduced the routes of 28 more trains. Many of these trains, which used to run daily, will now run only two to four days a week. The Railways have completely suspended some trains for the rest of the week, but on the days they do run, they will operate according to the old timetable.

If you’re planning to travel during these times, be sure to check whether your train is running. You can find a complete list of cancelled trains on the Railways’ website or at the station. Last-minute ticket cancellations and refunds may require waiting in long queues.
