Apart from this, Parsi New Year (Shahanshahi) will also be celebrated on this day in some states.
16 August: Janmashtami
The festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 16 August 2025, which is celebrated with enthusiasm across India as the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. Public holiday has been declared in many states on this occasion. Schools, colleges, banks, government offices and Anganwadi centers will remain closed in these states.

Banks will be closed on August 15 and 16, so complete your important banking work like depositing cheques, withdrawing cash or other transactions by August 14. However, online banking, UPI, and ATM services will be available during these holidays.
