4 Days Public Holiday: There’s great news for the public ahead of Holi. This year, there will be four consecutive days of holiday for the festival. Due to state government holidays and weekly offs, schools, colleges, banks, and many government offices will remain closed, giving people more time to celebrate the festival.

Holidays to Begin February 28

The holiday will begin on Saturday, February 28. As it is the fourth Saturday of the month, banks, many government offices, and many schools and colleges will also be closed.

Following this, there will be a regular weekly holiday on March 1 (Sunday). The addition of the Sunday holiday will provide people with a second consecutive day of rest. Markets are also expected to be bustling with festive shopping.

Holiday on March 2 (Monday)

The state government has declared March 2 (Monday) an official holiday to commemorate Holika Dahan. Government offices, schools, colleges, and banks will remain closed. People will traditionally be busy preparing for the Holika Dahan.

Then, on March 3 (Tuesday), there will be a public holiday for Dhulandi, the festival of colors. All educational institutions, banks, and most offices will remain closed on this day. People will celebrate Holi with colors and gulal (colourful colours).

Given the continuous holidays, it is advisable to complete banking and important government work in advance. Those traveling during the festival also need to plan ahead, as crowds may increase during this period.
