When is UAE National Day 2025?

According to Cabinet Resolution No. 27 (2024), the dates for Eid Al-Adha are:

Tuesday, December 2, 2025

Wednesday, December 3, 2025

Both these days have been officially declared as public holidays.

How many days of leave can be availed?

According to the UAE’s public holiday policy, holidays can be shifted to the beginning or end of the week. This year, there are two possibilities:

First Possibility: 5 Days Off

If Monday, December 1st is also declared a holiday, it could result in a 5-day holiday combined with the weekend.

Second Possibility: 4 Days Off

More likely, the December 3rd holiday will be shifted to Monday, December 1st. This would result in a 4-day holiday combined with the weekend.

How was the holiday last year?

In 2024, the UAE National Day holiday fell on Monday, December 2nd and Tuesday, December 3rd. Combined with the Saturday-Sunday weekend, there was a total of 4 days off. Work resumed on Wednesday, December 4th.

When will the official announcement be made?

The UAE government will announce the exact holiday period closer to the date. Therefore, people will have to wait for the official announcement.

How are holidays determined in the UAE?

Under Cabinet Resolution No. 27 (2024):

Rules and Regulations:

The UAE Cabinet has the authority to shift all public holidays, except for Eid holidays, to the beginning or end of the week.

Local governments can declare additional holidays for their departments on special occasions.

Holidays such as New Year’s Day and National Day are determined according to the Gregorian calendar.

Islamic holidays are determined based on the Hijri calendar and official moon sightings.
