Employees Holiday Declared: The Bihar government has released the holiday calendar for 2026 under which employees will get the benefit of 44 government holidays including Holi, Eid, Diwali, Republic and Independence Day.
Employees Holiday Declared: There is good news for the government officials and employees of Bihar. The General Administration Department has released the holiday calendar for 2026. Under this, government employees will get a total of 44 days of leave next year. This includes general holidays, public holidays and optional (restricted/optional) holidays. According to the order of the state government, the rule of 5 days work a week at the secretariat and directorate level and 6 days work in regional offices will continue as before.
Benefit of 44 holidays will be available in 2026
According to the calendar, in 2026, 11 days of general holiday, 17 days of optional/restricted holiday and 15 days of public holiday have been declared in all government offices, while one day will be annual account closing. This list includes all major festivals and special days like Holi, Eid, Diwali, Durga Puja, Mahashivratri, Buddha Purnima, Christmas, Republic Day and Independence Day.
Apart from this, holidays will also be given on Bihar Day on March 22 and other local occasions. The dates of Muslim festivals will be decided on sighting the moon, so they may change. The special thing is that there will be a two-day holiday for Holi on March 3 and 4, 2026. Apart from this, separate public holidays have also been fixed for banks, courts and other institutions. These also include the day of annual bank account closure on April 1, 2026.
