10 April 2025 (Thursday) – Mahavir Jayanti
The birthday of Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, is celebrated on this day. The Jain community celebrates it with great pomp.
13 April 2025 (Sunday) – Baisakhi
The festival of Baisakhi is very special in Punjab, Haryana and many parts of North India. It is also called the New Year of Sikhism.
14 April 2025 (Monday) – Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti
A government holiday is declared across the country on the birth anniversary of Constitution maker Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Bank and government office holidays
Many banks and government offices will also remain closed in the month of April. According to the holiday list of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the days on which banks will remain closed are as follows:
April 6 – Sunday (will also remain closed due to Ram Navami)
April 10 – Mahavir Jayanti
April 13 – Baisakhi (holiday as per states)
April 14 – Ambedkar Jayanti and Tamil New Year
Apart from this, banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.
