Why is Holi celebrated
Holi is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the month of Phalgun. This day has a special place in Hinduism. Its history is associated with Prahlad, a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Holika Dahan reminds of the story that when Hiranyakashipu’s sister Holika tried to burn Prahlad, she herself was burnt in the fire. Apart from this, Holi is also celebrated as a celebration of the love of Radha-Krishna and the arrival of spring.
