Holiday dates for Eid, Muharram, and Diwali may change.

Festivals like Eid and Muharram depend on the sighting of the moon, so their dates are not fixed in advance. For offices in Delhi/New Delhi, official notifications regarding the date change are issued later. In other states, holiday dates are adjusted based on the decision of the respective state government.

In 2026, Diwali falls on a Sunday. In some states, people celebrate Diwali on Naraka Chaturdashi. If a state declares a public holiday on the same day, central government offices may also observe the holiday on that date.

Overall, the 2026 holiday calendar offers employees the opportunity to plan ahead. Whether it’s mandatory or limited, each employee will be able to celebrate the festival according to their convenience and tradition.
