Difference between Gazetted and Non-Gazetted Holidays

Gazetted and non-gazetted holidays are two types of government holidays in India. Gazetted holidays are national or important holidays that are notified in the Gazette of the Government of India, such as Independence Day, Republic Day and Gandhi Jayanti. All government offices, banks and schools are mandatorily closed on these days. Non-gazetted holidays are optional holidays that employees can take based on their choice or regional/religious significance, such as some local festivals. Offices may remain open on these days, and the leave depends on the employee’s will.

These facilities will remain operational on holidays

Digital banking services, such as net banking, UPI and ATMs, will remain available during these holidays. However, functions such as check clearance may be affected. Customers are advised to plan their banking needs in advance. Contact your nearest bank or school for local holidays.
