The administration has taken this step to control the crowd on the platform. Also, special arrangements have been made by the railways at New Delhi station. RPF and TT have been deployed at every entry point to avoid inconvenience to the passengers. After this order, now you can go to the platform only if you have a general ticket or a reserved ticket.
‘6 officers deployed for crowd management’
Earlier, Delhi Police deployed six Inspector rank officers for crowd management at the railway station. These are the officers who already have experience of working in NDLS. Some of these officers have held the post of SHO in New Delhi Railway Police Station.
1500 general tickets were sold on Saturday
At the same time, the investigation into the stampede that took place on Saturday night revealed that the railways sold 1500 general tickets every hour at New Delhi station.
How did the stampede happen
Let us tell you that on Saturday, a huge crowd of devotees were waiting for the train going to Prayagraj on platform number 14 of New Delhi Railway Station and other passengers were also trying to reach there. Meanwhile, the railways suddenly announced the arrival of a special train from platform number 16. After this, the passengers who were already trying to go to platform 14 also ran towards platform 16 after the announcement, which caused chaos and the crowd became uncontrollable. And people started falling on each other. This was the reason for the stampede. 18 people died in the stampede, including 9 men, 8 women and 4 children.
