Railways has started clone express trains to deal with the problem of increasing crowd of passengers and waiting list. Clone trains run with the same route, number and destination as the original trains, but they provide confirmed seats to passengers on the waiting list.
The clone train of Prayagraj Express has been started under the pilot project. Now a proposal to run clones of seven trains including Shramik Shakti Express, Sangam Express, Dr. Ambedkar Nagar Express has been sent to the Railway Board.
According to the Railways, clone trains will be started for those trains in which 90 percent of the passenger load is regular and the situation of ‘regret’ persists. These trains will mainly have third AC coaches and stoppages will be kept limited, which will reduce the travel time.
Initially these trains will run weekly, then based on demand they will operate two days a week and later daily. There are many advantages of clone trains. Waiting list passengers will get confirmed berths, faster travel due to fewer stoppages, increase in railway income, no train will go empty due to operation based on demand.
Prayagraj Division’s Senior DCM Himanshu Shukla said that the number of clone trains will be increased on the basis of available engines and rakes. This is expected to provide great relief to the passengers. The clone of Prayagraj Express has been started on a weekly basis. The proposal for other trains has also been sent to the board.
Mobile accessories stalls will start soon at railway stations
The Prayagraj Division of North Central Railway has started a new initiative for the convenience of passengers. Now mobile accessories stalls will be opened at major railway stations, where essential items like mobile chargers, power banks, earphones, phone covers and screen guards will be easily available to the passengers.
This scheme will be started from eight major stations of the division namely Prayagraj Junction, Prayagraj Chheoki, Subedarganj, Kanpur Central, Fatehpur, Etawah, Tundla and Aligarh Junction. Mobile recharge facility will also be provided at these stalls so that passengers do not face any inconvenience during the journey.
According to railway officials, passengers used to complain that there is no arrangement for mobile accessories at the stations, due to which they used to face problems. This step has been taken to overcome this problem. The process of e-auction will be started by the commercial department of the railway division for the operation of the stalls.
Himanshu Shukla, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Senior DCM) of Prayagraj Division, said that in today’s time, mobile phone is the need of every passenger. That is why it has been decided to start such facilities at railway stations. This will not only provide convenience to the passengers but will also increase the facilities of the stations. This scheme will be implemented soon.
