Indian Railways Ticketing Update: During the Diwali and Chhath festival season, train and bus passenger traffic has increased. The Indian Railways has issued a major update regarding ticket booking. The Railways has stated that many Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters in Delhi will be closed on Diwali Day, October 20th (Monday). This is due to the Diwali holiday. According to Northern Railways, day and evening shifts will be affected in many areas of Delhi-NCR. However, there is no need to worry; ticket booking will continue at some major stations. Passengers should plan in advance.
PRS Counters Will Remain Closed Throughout the Day
The Railways has urged passengers to purchase tickets online or from open counters. This step is intended to make travel easier. In view of the Diwali rush, the Railways has also operated special trains. According to Northern Railways, several important PRS counters in Delhi will remain closed throughout the day. These include the Parliament House, the Press Club of India, the Railway Board, the Supreme Court, and the High Court. These counters are located in government and court areas. Employees will be given leave for Diwali, so no bookings will be accepted at these counters.
Online booking facilities will remain available.
Passengers should consider alternative options instead of visiting these locations. The Railways stated that this closure is temporary and necessary due to the festival. If you wish to purchase tickets at the counter, current reservations will be available at New Delhi (Paharganj and Ajmeri Gate side), Delhi Main, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar, and Delhi Sarai Rohilla stations. Bookings will be available at these stations from morning to evening. The Railways advises booking online through the IRCTC app or website.
