Mumbai. In view of the increasing number of passengers traveling without masks in Mumbai’s local trains and the ever increasing corona cases, the Railways have taken a major decision. Under this decision, Central Railway will sell masks in local trains of Mumbai. According to the information being received, the sale of masks will be started by the Central Railway in 2-3 days. To sell masks in local trains, the Railways has hired 20 salesmen who will sell masks in different trains.
Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway Shivaji Sutar told that a large number of people are traveling without masks in local trains. A large number of people have been caught traveling without masks during the checking campaign run by the railways. This decision has been taken in view of this figure and once again the rising corona danger in Mumbai, so that the spread of corona can be prevented during the rush of trains.
At present, the Central Railway is running around 95 percent trains. 20 salesmen have been appointed to sell masks in about 1600 local trains. The masks sold by these salesmen in local trains will be priced between Rs 5-7.
The number of passengers traveling in local trains is increasing continuously. So far, about 7500 thousand people have been caught by the Central Railway traveling without masks and about 16 lakh rupees have been recovered from them. Not only this, the risk of corona in Mumbai is constantly increasing and more than 17000 cases have been reported in the last 11 days. In such a situation, the local trains are more crowded and due to more passengers without masks, the risk of corona outbreak may increase.
