IMD Rainfall Alert, Weather Update: Heavy rains are likely in Haryana, Chandigarh on July 28 and 29, Western Uttar Pradesh on July 26-29, Eastern Uttar Pradesh on July 26 and 28-30, Rajasthan on July 26-31.
IMD Rainfall Alert: Due to the effect of pressure, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in northern Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 26 July, western Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat on 26 and 27 July, eastern Rajasthan on 27 and 28 July. Apart from this, monsoon will remain very active on central India and western coasts for the next three days. At the same time, heavy rains are expected in western Uttar Pradesh on 26-29 July, eastern Uttar Pradesh on 26 July and 28-30 July.
According to the Meteorological Department, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar will receive heavy rains on July 26-30, Vidarbha, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim on July 26-28 and August 1, Jharkhand on July 29-31. Odisha will receive heavy rains on July 31. Talking about South India, Tamil Nadu will receive heavy rains on July 27, Kerala, Mahe on July 27-30, Coastal Karnataka on August 26-1, North Interior Karnataka on July 26 and 27, South Interior Karnataka on July 26-29, Andhra Pradesh, Yanam on July 26.
Talking about North West India, there will be very heavy rain in East Rajasthan on 27th and 28th July. Apart from this, very heavy rain is going to occur in Himachal Pradesh on 29th July, Uttarakhand on 27th and 28th July, Western Uttar Pradesh on 28th July, Western Rajasthan on 26th July, Eastern Rajasthan on 26-30th July. At the same time, heavy rain is expected in Jammu and Kashmir on 28th July, Himachal Pradesh on 27th and 30th July, Uttarakhand from 26th July to 1st August, Haryana, Chandigarh on 28th and 29th July, Western Uttar Pradesh on 26th and 29th July, Eastern Uttar Pradesh on 26th and 28-30th July, Rajasthan on 26-31st July.
Heavy rains cause extensive damage in various parts of Kerala
Heavy rains in various parts of Kerala since Friday night have caused extensive damage and the water level in rivers and dams has risen. In view of this, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for three hours on Saturday morning for seven districts of the state – Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode. Heavy rains and strong winds overnight in various parts of Kozhikode uprooted trees and damaged many houses and vehicles. Power supply was disrupted due to falling of electric wires and poles. Similar incidents have also been reported from Kottayam and Kannur districts. The gates of Banasura Sagar in Wayanad district and Aliyar Dam in Palakkad district have been opened. People living in areas near these reservoirs have been instructed to remain alert.
