Rain Alert: Heat wave is wreaking havoc across the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning till 18 April in Rajasthan and 17 April in Gujarat. Meanwhile, the western Himalayan region is going to get relief from the heat, as Western Disturbance is going to knock, due to which there will be heavy rain between 16-20 April. Out of this, there is an alert of heavy rain on 18 and 19 April. At the same time, warning of rain, thunderstorm and lightning has also been issued in the plains of North West India between 18-20 April.
Talking about the weather of the last 24 hours, thunderstorms were seen in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Assam, Meghalaya, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand. Apart from this, hail fell in Telangana, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Assam and Meghalaya. At the same time, heavy rains were recorded in Odisha.

Strong winds will blow at a speed of 50-60 kmph in Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar on 17 and 18 April. Talking about South India, there is a possibility of rain and thunderstorms in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Karnataka in the next five days.
Apart from this, a new Western Disturbance is going to knock in the Western Himalayan region between 16-20 April. Due to this, there will be heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh on 18 and 19 April in the Western Himalayan region. On the other hand, talking about the plains of North West India, there is an alert of rain, thunderstorms and strong winds between 18 and 20 April. There is a possibility of dust storm in Western Rajasthan on 16 and in Eastern Rajasthan on 17 April.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in North West India is going to increase by two to four degrees Celsius in the next three days. The temperature in Central India will increase by three degrees in the next four days. At the same time, heatwave conditions are going to occur in Eastern Rajasthan on 16-19 April and in Gujarat on 16 and 17 April.
