Due to the influence of Western Disturbance, light to moderate rain and snowfall may occur in the upper areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir on February 4 and 5.
Winter is about to leave North India. Amidst the departing winter, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain warning for North India and Northeast states. There is a possibility of rain and snowfall in many areas of North-West India in the next few days. At the same time, there may be heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Northeast states on 6 and 7 February.
Due to the effect of Western Disturbance, light to moderate rain and snowfall may occur in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and upper areas of Jammu and Kashmir on February 4 and 5. Also, light rain and lightning is expected in some areas of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Light rain has also been recorded in Delhi and surrounding areas on February 4.
Heavy rain alert in Northeast India
Heavy rain and storm may occur in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya on 6 and 7 February. Heavy rain warning has been issued especially in Arunachal Pradesh on 7 February.
Fog continues to wreak havoc
Dense fog is prevailing in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and Odisha in the morning. Visibility has reduced to less than 50 meters in many areas. Drivers may also face problems due to fog in Amritsar and Ludhiana of Punjab.
Temperature likely to drop
Temperatures may drop by 2-4 degrees in North and Central India in the next 2-4 days. Temperatures are also likely to drop in Western India and then rise slightly in the next 2 days. Temperatures are likely to remain stable in Eastern India, while day temperatures in Central, East and South India will be 3-5 degrees above normal.
