School Closed: Due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, life has been disrupted. In view of the rains, schools and colleges have been closed in eight out of 12 districts of the state, while 685 roads including three national highways are closed.
School Closed: The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Red Alert’ anticipating heavy rains at different places in Kangra and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh and has asked people to remain alert. The Meteorological Office has also issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ of heavy rains in the state till August 31. Shipkila, a high altitude area of Lahaul and Spiti district, has also received the first snowfall of the season.
Schools will remain closed here
In view of the warning of heavy rains, all educational institutions except residential institutions have been closed in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra, Kullu, Chamba, Una and Solan districts. Due to heavy rains for the last two days, many roads in various villages have been blocked, causing connectivity to be cut off.
Manimahesh Yatra postponed
Bharmour Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Kuldeep Singh Rana said that the Manimahesh Yatra has been postponed in view of rain and landslides. The Yatra started on August 17 and will end on September 15.
Alert issued regarding landslides and flash floods
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning indicating landslides, flash floods, uprooting of trees, blocking of roads and other related hazards, which can pose a serious threat to life, property and public safety. Similar orders have also been issued by the other seven district administrations.
