Ration Card KYC: In addition to providing subsidized food grains to ration card holders, the government is now planning to provide kerosene. In light of the LPG shortage in the country due to the US-Iran war, the government is resuming kerosene supplies. KYC verification of the ration card is essential to receive subsidized rations. Failure to do so renders the card inactive.
Ration Card KYC: If you haven’t yet completed your ration card’s e-KYC or haven’t been receiving rations for a long time, your card may be suspended or completely deactivated. Once the card is deactivated, you won’t be able to access any important government benefits, such as grain or kerosene.
The good news is that the solution to this problem is quite simple, and you don’t need to visit any government office or stand in long lines. Using the central government’s official “UMANG” app, you can check the status of your ration card from the comfort of your home. This means you can find out whether your ration card is active or not.
To begin the process of activating your ration card, first download the Umang app on your mobile phone. After installing the app, register using your mobile number and complete the login process by setting a strong MPIN. Once you’re on the app’s dashboard, you’ll be presented with all the necessary information regarding your ration card.
To check your card status, after logging in, type “My Ration” or “PDS” into the app’s search bar and select your state from the available options. After entering your ration card number, click “View Ration Card Details” and your card’s complete horoscope will appear on the screen. You will know whether your card is currently active or has been deactivated.
If your ration card is showing as inactive, there’s no need to panic as you can quickly correct it by going to the ‘Update Member Details’ or ‘e-KYC’ option. Type ‘Department of Food and Public Distribution’ in the search bar.
Select your state and choose the ‘View Ration Card Details’ or ‘e-KYC’ option. Enter the ration card number. Select the name of the member for whom you want to process e-KYC and enter the Aadhaar number. Enter an OTP you will receive on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Click ‘Submit’. Once the process is complete, you will receive a message confirming e-KYC success.
To receive ration from a ration depot, it’s crucial to have your ration card KYC verified and active. A minor technical error or lack of KYC could deprive you of benefits like cheap grain or kerosene distribution. Therefore, use the Umang app on your mobile phone today and take just two minutes to update your information.
