Regarding tax on vaccine, Anurag Thakur said – removal of GST will increase prices

Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the removal of tax on the vaccine. After which the Minister of State for Finance, Government of India, Anurag Thakur has given a clarification.


New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur has given a big statement regarding the removal of tax on the vaccine. He said that if the tax is completely removed on the vaccine, then its price will increase. He said that after the removal of GST, the company making the vaccine will not be able to offset its tax. In this case, the company will increase the price of the vaccine. If the price increases, it will affect the public only. During this, he said that the five percent tax on the vaccine is in the public interest.

Regarding Sputnik V, Anurag Thakur said that 1.5 lakh doses of vaccine have already reached India. He informed that RDIF has also tied up with local Indian companies for bulk production.

Congress leader wrote the letter

Earlier, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fight against Corona. In his suggestion, he demanded removal of GST on life-saving drugs, medical supplies and vaccine along with relaxation in compulsory licensing to increase the production of vaccine.

Apart from this, he said that in the general budget of the government, the use of 35 thousand crore rupees allocated for the corona virus epidemic should be given free of cost to the people. He also said that an all-party meeting should be convened on the epidemic and permanent committees of Parliament should also meet.


Apart from this, he said that the distribution of medical related relief materials coming from abroad should be expedited. These relief materials should be given to the states as soon as possible.
