At the Marathi Gaurav event that took place in Mumbai on Sunday, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi actress Kangana Ranaut presented the legendary veteran Bollywood superstar Rekha with a special award. At the time of delivering her acceptance speech, the Umrao Jaan actress took the special moment and platform to shower praises upon her presenter.
The versatile actress, who is also a nominated MP at the Rajya Sabha, mentioned how Kangana is the one person from the Bollywood fraternity she adores and loves the most. She went on to add that if she had a daughter, she would have been like Kangana.
Further expressing admiration for the Queen actress, she said that Kangana is Jhansi Ki Rani in real life too. Kangana would next be seen essaying the role of freedom fighter Rani Lakshmibai in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi which would also mark her directorial debut. A historical biopic on one of the most crucial leaders of the Indian freedom rebellion of 1857, the film would also mark the debut of the former television actress Ankita Lokhande on the 70mm screen. At the event, Rekha and Kangana were spotted in conversation with famous choreographer Saroj Khan. They also grooved together on the stage to a Marathi song. Kangana looked absolutely stunning dressed in a sari that was reportedly gifted to her by Rekha. Manikarnika would hit the theatres on January 25, 2019 and would be clashing with Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Thackeray at the box office.
