5th July Bank Holiday: Banks in India remain closed on national holidays, regional holidays and certain days decided by RBI. Apart from this, banks are also closed on every second and fourth Saturday. However, despite Saturday, July 5 being the first Saturday of the month, all banks will remain closed. That is, customers will not be able to go to the bank and get their important work done.

Banks will remain closed for 3 days between 5th and 13th July

Let us tell you that banks in the country will remain closed on different occasions from July 5 to July 13. According to the RBI calendar, banks in Jammu and Srinagar are going to remain closed on July 5 due to the birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind Ji. The sixth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Har Govind Singh Ji was born in 1595 in Badali (Amritsar, India) and died in 1644 in Kiratpur near the Himalayas. He was the son of Arjun Singh, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs.

That is, on Saturday, banks will remain open in all the states except Jammu and Srinagar. Apart from this, July 12 is the second Saturday of the month, due to which banks will remain closed and July 13 will be a Sunday holiday. Banks will remain open on July 7, July 8, July 9, July 10 and July 11.

  • July 14 (Monday) – Banks will be closed in Shillong on the occasion of Beh Dinkhlam.
  • July 16 (Wednesday) – Banks will be closed in Dehradun for Harela.
  • July 17 (Thursday) – Banks will be closed in Shillong on the occasion of death anniversary of U Tirot Singh.
  • July 19 (Saturday) – Banks will be closed in Tripura on account of Ker Puja.
  • July 26 (Saturday) – Banks will be closed across India for fourth Saturday.
  • July 27 (Sunday) – Banks will be closed across India.
  • July 28 (Monday) — Banks will be closed in Gangtok for Drukpa Tse-ji festival.

Branch services may be disrupted on the occasion of holidays, but digital banking services like net banking, mobile app, UPI, wallet, ATM will remain operational. However, for tasks like passbook update, check clearing, locker facility, account closing, etc. that require going to the bank, one will have to wait till Monday.
