School Holidays 2025: Due to the increasing cold, fog, and cold wave, the timings of all private and government schools in Patna, including preschools and Anganwadi centers, have been changed. School Holidays 2025: Good news for school students. All government and private schools in Kerala will be closed today, December 11th, due to local body elections. In Telangana, many government and private schools, which have been used as polling stations, will also be closed due to Panchayat elections. The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to close all government schools and educational institutions on December 27th, the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Meanwhile, schools across the country will also be closed in December due to weekly Sundays and Christmas, so students will benefit from ample holidays.

- According to the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s schedule, pre-primary classes will be closed until February 28, 2026, and schools will reopen on March 1. School holidays for classes 9 to 12 will begin on December 11, 2025, and continue until February 22, 2026. Schools in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed until December 14.
- In Rajasthan, winter vacation will be from December 25, 2025, to January 5, 2026. This holiday will apply to all government and private schools. The holiday dates have been determined according to the Shivira Panchang 2025-26. Winter vacations are also likely to be announced soon in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. School holidays in these states typically begin in the last week of December or early January.
- In Madhya Pradesh, winter vacation will be from December 31 to January 4. According to the School Education Department, government schools will have a Christmas holiday on December 25. After this, regular classes will be conducted and then winter vacation will begin. In the coming days, announcements are likely to be made in other states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
School timings changed in Patna and Khargone
- In Patna district, the capital of Bihar, all classes up to eighth grade will not operate before 8:30 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m. This order, issued under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code, 2023, applies to all government and private schools, preschools, and Anganwadi centers. This order will remain in effect until December 18th. School management has been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the order and to provide timely information about the time change to students and parents.
- School timings have also been changed in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh. Classes from nursery to eighth grade in the morning shift will not begin before 8:30 a.m. The new timings will apply to all government and private schools. Previously, more than two dozen schools had their timings changed in November.
