School Holiday: There is a relief news for school students. In view of heavy rains in Lucknow, UP, the administration has declared holiday in all schools up to class 12 on Thursday, August 14 and in Ayodhya on the occasion of Chehalum, in all schools from nursery to class 8. Holiday has also been declared in all schools and Anganwadis in Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun, district Udham Singh Nagar, Chamoli, Haridwar and Uttarkashi today. Here, in the month of August, due to Independence Day, Janmashtami and Sunday, the benefit of long holidays is going to be available. Schools will remain closed on 15 August i.e. Independence Day Friday, Shri Krishna Janmashtami on 16 August Saturday and 17 August Sunday, so children will get 3 consecutive days of holidays.

Schools closed for 4 days in UP

Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council has declared a holiday from 14th to 16th August. All educational institutions will remain closed on 14th due to Chehlum and 15th August due to Independence Day and on 16th August due to Shri Krishna Janmashtami. There will be a holiday on Sunday, 17th August, so now all educational institutions including schools and colleges will open on 18th August i.e. Monday. According to this, children are going to get 4 days holiday.

Where will schools remain closed on Janmashtami

Schools will remain closed on Janmashtami in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

The festival of Jhulan Purnima (13 to 17 August) is celebrated with great pomp in West Bengal, Odisha and Eastern India, so there may be a holiday in some schools of these states. Onam is a famous festival of Kerala which will be celebrated from 26 to 28 August. There may be a holiday in many districts of Kerala.

15 August 2025 (Friday): Independence Day as well as Chehalum

16 August 2025 (Saturday): Sri Krishna Janmashtami (in states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra)

17 August Sunday

26 August 2025 (Tuesday): Haritalika Teej Vrat

27 August: Ganesh Chaturthi (Schools may remain closed in many states like Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Telangana)
