April will be full of holidays from the beginning, as important festivals like Ram Navami and Mahavir Jayanti are coming during this time. 6 April (Sunday) – Ram Navami
This festival, celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ram, is falling on Sunday this time. However, some schools may also declare it a holiday on April 5 (Saturday) due to the conclusion of Chaitra Navratri.
10 April (Thursday) – Mahavir Jayanti
The birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir is very important for the Jain community. On this day, schools are closed in many states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
13 April (Sunday) – Baisakhi
Baisakhi has special significance in Punjab and Northern India. This day is celebrated as the Sikh New Year and harvest festival. However, as it falls on Sunday, there is less possibility of a separate holiday.
14 April (Monday) – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti/Tamil New Year
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s birth anniversary is a national holiday. Apart from this, Tamil New Year in Tamil Nadu and Vishu festival in Kerala are also celebrated on this day, due to which there will be a holiday in schools in South Indian states as well.
