On Monday (October 13, 2025), Pakistani Rangers and Pakistani police carried out a massive massacre in the Pakistani city of Muridke, killing over 280 people in just three hours. Over 1,900 unarmed people were injured in the massacre. The firing took place in the city of Muridke, located in the Sheikhupura district of Pakistan’s Punjab province, where a convoy of the radical organization Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) had left Lahore, heading towards Islamabad to protest against the US and Israel.

At around 4 a.m. Indian time, Pakistani Rangers and police first threw smoke grenades to prevent thousands of TLP activists from proceeding to Islamabad, and then fired on thousands of protesters until 9 a.m., as evidenced by images obtained by ABP News of a TLP stage where the bodies of several TLP activists lay. Furthermore, the Pakistani Rangers and police also set the TLP stage on fire. The TLP also claims that its leader, Maulana Saad Hussain Rizvi, was shot in the police and Rangers’ firing and fell from the stage immediately. A video obtained by ABP News shows Maulana Saad Hussain Rizvi appealing to the Pakistani Rangers and police to stop the firing.

TLP workers were adamant on marching to Islamabad.

In fact, in protest against the Gaza Peace Agreement, the TLP marched from Lahore with thousands of activists to the US Embassy in Islamabad last Friday to protest against the US and Israel. The TLP named this march the Labbaik or Aqsa March. Although the police and Rangers opened fire in Lahore as soon as the march began on Friday, resulting in the deaths of 15 people that day, the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) march, led by Maulana Saad Hussain Rizvi, continued its march and reached Muridke on Saturday night, where two days of negotiations were held between Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan and the Pakistani government regarding not extending the march to Islamabad.

The script for the massacre was hatched in a meeting between Shahbaz and Naqvi.

When negotiations between the Shahbaz government and the TLP proved ineffective, the TLP remained adamant on marching to Islamabad. Last night at 11 p.m., TLP chief Maulana Saad Rizvi announced a march to Islamabad that morning. Before the march could even begin, Pakistani security forces killed unarmed protesters with AK-47s. Prior to the firing on TLP activists, an emergency meeting was held yesterday between Pakistan’s Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to discuss the deteriorating situation in the country. It is feared that the shooting of the TLP convoy was premeditated.

Third incident of firing on unarmed people in a month

This is the third incident of firing on unarmed people in Pakistan in a month. Pakistani Rangers and police opened fire on protesters in PoK on September 29 and October 1, killing a total of 19 people. This was followed by the deaths of 15 people in Lahore on Friday, followed by police firing today, bringing the total number of deaths to 280, with estimates suggesting the death toll could rise further.
