Gold Silver Rate Today 22 December: After gold hit a record high, silver prices also reached an all-time high. Expectations of further reduction in interest rates in the US, along with increasing demand for safe havens, have led to a sharp rise in precious metals.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), silver with March expiry rose by 2.39% on Monday and was trading at Rs 2,13,412 per kg at around 9:15 am. It also made its all-time high of Rs 2,13,844. Gold also registered a rise. Gold for February futures delivery rose by 0.77% to Rs 1,35,224 per 10 grams.
International prices also hit an all-time high
Spot silver jumped 2.7 percent to an all-time high of $69.23 per ounce in the international market, while spot gold also rose 1.2 percent to a new record high of $4,391.92 per ounce.
Silver has delivered a 138% return so far.
Silver prices have surged 138% this year, far surpassing gold’s returns. Strong investment and a supply shortage are the primary reasons behind this surge, while demand remains strong. Market experts believe this rally is likely to continue.
Gold prices in major cities across the country
Today, 24-carat gold was recorded at ₹1,36,150 per 10 grams in Chennai, and 22-carat gold at ₹1,24,800 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kerala, and Pune, 24-carat gold is trading at ₹1,35,280 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold is being sold at ₹1,24,000 per 10 grams. In Delhi, 24-carat gold was priced at ₹1,35,430 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at ₹1,24,050 per 10 grams. In Vadodara and Ahmedabad, 24-carat gold was priced at ₹1,35,330 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at ₹1,24,050 per 10 grams.
