For candidates preparing for government jobs, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has taken a significant step toward making the examination process more transparent and impartial. The Commission has announced the implementation of a new challenge/objection management system for computer-based examinations, which will come into effect starting in 2026. Under this new framework, candidates will be given the opportunity to register objections against the answer keys, which will subsequently be reviewed by subject matter experts. Additionally, the Commission has released an important update regarding the CHSL Typing Test, providing relief to many candidates.

New Objection Management System Implemented

The Staff Selection Commission has issued guidelines for a new objection management system applicable to computer-based examinations. This system will be implemented in all objective-type and departmental examinations conducted from 2026 onwards. The Commission arrived at this decision after carefully considering candidate grievances, RTI applications, and observations made by the courts. The primary objective is to render the examination process more transparent and credible.

Opportunity to Raise Objections Against Answer Keys

According to the new system, a provisional answer key will be released initially following the examination. Candidates will be able to register their objections against this key. Subsequently, subject matter experts will scrutinize these objections, and based on their expert opinion, a final answer key will be published. This mechanism will provide an opportunity to rectify errors in questions or answers, should any exist.

Full Marks for All on Incorrect or Ambiguous Questions

The Commission has clarified that if any question is found to be incorrect, incomplete, or ambiguous, it will be removed, and full marks for that question will be awarded to all candidates. If a question has more than one correct answer, all candidates who selected a correct option will receive full marks, while negative marking will continue to apply to those who provided an incorrect answer.

Relief Also Provided for Out-of-Syllabus Questions

According to the SSC, questions falling outside the prescribed syllabus are rare; however, should such an instance occur, the question will be removed, and marks will be awarded to all candidates. In the event of errors related to language or translation, separate evaluations will be conducted based on the specific language medium. The Commission has appealed to candidates to register only valid and well-reasoned objections.
