Twenty-two significant proposals were approved today during the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet meeting. The government has provided major relief to Shikshamitras and instructors by substantially increasing their honorarium. Additionally, the path has been cleared for the construction of modern bus terminals across 52 districts of the state under the PPP model to enhance transportation facilities.
During a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a proposal to increase the honorarium of Shiksha Mitras (para-teachers) from ₹10,000 to ₹18,000 was given the green signal. This enhanced amount will come into effect starting May 1. Similarly, the honorarium for part-time instructors has also been raised from ₹9,000 to ₹17,000.
To bring about revolutionary changes in the transport sector, the Cabinet has approved the construction of 49 new bus terminals under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model. These bus terminals will be fully equipped with modern amenities, modeled entirely after airports. This decision will directly benefit 52 districts across the state, providing passengers with world-class facilities.
Bus Stations Modeled After Airports
According to a proposal by the Transport Department, bus terminals equipped with airport-like amenities will be developed across the state. Following the initiation of the development process for 23 bus terminals in the first phase, approval has now been granted for 49 additional new stations. An agreement has been reached to provide 2 hectares of land belonging to the Agriculture Department—free of cost—for the construction of a bus terminal in Sikandrarao, Hathras. Furthermore, land owned by the Irrigation Department in Dibai (Bulandshahr) and by the PWD in Tulsipur (Balrampur) will be transferred for the establishment of bus terminals.
A Windfall for Shikshamitras and Instructors
Today marked a historic day for personnel associated with the education sector. Fulfilling a long-pending demand for a hike in honorarium, the government has announced a direct increase of ₹8,000 in the remuneration of Shikshamitras. They will now receive ₹18,000 per month. Simultaneously, the honorarium for part-time instructors has also been raised by ₹8,000, bringing their monthly remuneration to ₹17,000. The enhanced amounts will be deposited into the bank accounts of all eligible beneficiaries starting May 1st.
