Summer Special Trains: Indian Railways has decided to operate Summer Special trains to ensure passenger convenience during the summer holidays. These trains will run on schedule between Amritsar and Kolkata, and between Rishikesh and Gorakhpur, featuring both air-conditioned and general-class coaches. Summer Special Trains: In view of the anticipated rush during the summer holidays, Indian Railways is continuously announcing the operation of ‘Summer Special’ trains. In line with this initiative, the railway administration has decided to run Summer Special trains between Amritsar and Kolkata, and between Yog Nagari Rishikesh and Gorakhpur, to provide additional convenience to passengers.
Let us take a look at the timings and stoppages of these trains.
Sumit Kumar, CPI of North Eastern Railway, stated that the operation of Summer Special trains is being continuously ensured to facilitate rail passengers during the summer holidays.
The Amritsar–Kolkata (via Gorakhpur) Summer Weekly Reserved Special Train will operate for 12 trips—departing from Amritsar every Monday from April 13 to June 29, 2026, and from Kolkata every Thursday from April 16 to July 2, 2026. Train No. 04624, the Amritsar-Kolkata Summer Weekly Reserved Special, will depart from Amritsar every Monday from April 13 to June 29, 2026, at 20:10 hrs. It will proceed via Beas at 20:42 hrs, Jalandhar City at 21:20 hrs, Phagwara at 21:40 hrs, and Dhandari Kalan at 22:40 hrs. On the second day, it will pass through Ambala Cantt at 00:50 hrs, Yamunanagar Jagadhri at 01:45 hrs, Saharanpur at 02:30 hrs, Moradabad at 06:20 hrs, Bareilly at 07:42 hrs, Shahjahanpur at 08:45 hrs, Sitapur at 11:30 hrs, Gonda at 14:20 hrs, Gorakhpur at 17:20 hrs, Kaptanganj at 19:00 hrs, Narkatiaganj at 22:30 hrs, Bettiah at 23:02 hrs, Sagauli at 23:20 hrs, and Bapudham Motihari at 23:47 hrs. On the third day, it will depart from Muzaffarpur at 01:15 hrs, Samastipur at 02:25 hrs, Barauni at 03:40 hrs, Kiul at 05:35 hrs, Jhajha at 07:10 hrs, Jasidih at 07:44 hrs, Madhupur at 08:10 hrs, Chittaranjan at 08:50 hrs, Asansol at 09:45 hrs, Durgapur at 10:18 hrs, Barddhaman at 11:28 hrs, Bandel at 12:20 hrs, and Naihati at 13:25 hrs, finally arriving in Kolkata at 15:00 hrs. For the return journey, Train No. 04623 Kolkata–Amritsar Summer Weekly Reserved Special will depart from Kolkata every Thursday from April 16 to July 2, 2026, at 05:00 hrs. It will depart from Naihati at 05:50 hrs, Bandel at 06:17 hrs, Barddhaman at 07:35 hrs, Durgapur at 08:38 hrs, Asansol at 09:13 hrs, Chittaranjan at 09:38 hrs, Madhupur at 10:37 hrs, Jasidih at 11:25 hrs, Jhajha at 13:45 hrs, Kiul at 15:30 hrs, Barauni at 17:20 hrs, Samastipur at 18:35 hrs, Muzaffarpur at 19:30 hrs, Bapudham Motihari at 20:55 hrs, Sagauli at 21:14 hrs, Bettiah at 21:42 hrs, and Narkatiaganj at 22:25 hrs. On the second day, it will depart from Kaptanganj at 01:15 hrs, Gorakhpur at 02:25 hrs, Gonda at 04:10 hrs, Sitapur at 08:35 hrs, Shahjahanpur at 11:10 hrs, Bareilly at 12:30 hrs, Moradabad at 14:10 hrs, Saharanpur at 17:55 hrs, Yamunanagar Jagadhri at 18:28 hrs, Ambala Cantt at 19:55 hrs, Dhandari Kalan at 22:10 hrs, Phagwara at 22:46 hrs, Jalandhar City at 23:15 hrs, and Beas at 23:45 hrs, finally reaching Amritsar at 00:40 hrs on the third day. This train will be equipped with a total of 18 coaches, comprising 1 AC 2-tier coach, 1 AC 3-tier coach, 10 Sleeper Class coaches, 4 General Second Class coaches, and 2 SLR coaches.
Train Number 04316/04315—the Yog Nagari Rishikesh Summer Weekly Reserved Special Train—will operate for a total of 13 trips: departing from Rishikesh every Tuesday from April 21 to July 14, 2026, and departing from Gorakhpur every Wednesday from April 22 to July 15, 2026.
Train Number 04316, the Yog Nagari Rishikesh–Gorakhpur Summer Weekly Reserved Special, will depart from Yog Nagari Rishikesh at 15:20 every Tuesday from April 21 to July 14, 2026. It will subsequently depart from Haridwar at 16:15, Moradabad at 19:25, Bareilly at 20:49, Shahjahanpur at 22:05; and on the following day, from Sitapur at 00:20, Gonda at 03:25, and Basti at 04:40, finally arriving at Gorakhpur at 06:20.
Conversely, on the return journey, Train Number 04315, the Gorakhpur–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Summer Weekly Reserved Special, will depart from Gorakhpur at 09:00 every Wednesday from April 22 to July 15, 2026. It will then depart from Basti at 10:00, Gonda at 11:30, Sitapur at 15:00, Shahjahanpur at 17:20, Bareilly at 18:45, and Moradabad at 21:30; and on the following day, from Haridwar at 00:15, finally arriving at Yog Nagari Rishikesh at 01:30.
This train will consist of a total of 18 coaches, comprising 01 Air-Conditioned 3-Tier coach, 01 Air-Conditioned 2-Tier coach, 10 Sleeper Class coaches, 04 General Second Class coaches, and 02 SLR (Seating-cum-Luggage Rake) coaches.
