The ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ fame Jethalal alias Dilip Joshi believes there was a time when he was not given any work. He was forced to work as a backstage artist in a commercial theater. He revealed this in the pod-cast of comedian Saurabh Pant.
Had to role for 50 rupees
Dilip Joshi said, “I started my career as a backstage artist in the commercial stage. Nobody paid me a role. I used to get 50 rupees per role. But at that time I had a passion for theater. I didn’t care about it That I used to get backstage roles. Big roles would come in the future, but I wanted to stick to the theater. ”
Spent more than a decade doing stage shows
According to Dilip Joshi, it has been more than a decade since he played stage. He says, “I worked in Gujarati theater for 25 years. My last play was ‘Daya Bhai’, which was completed in 2007.”
Busyness after tarak mehta
Dilip Joshi, “In 2008, I started shooting for 12 hours every day, including Sundays, for ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’. You need a different kind of discipline for the theater. You have weekends as well as week-days There are also shows. So it became difficult to manage theater and TV. I miss theater very much. “
