TDS Deduction Form 13: The Income Tax Department has released Form 13 (TDS) for the financial year 2025-26, through which taxpayers can apply for lower or zero TDS rate for the financial year 2025-26. The Income Tax Department has also enabled Form 15E, which can be filled by Indian residents if they want less TDS deduction while making payments to non-residents.
Deadline for filling Form 13 and Form 15E
According to the information given on the TRACES portal of the Income Tax Department, both these forms have been made available for the upcoming financial year 2025-26. However, for the current financial year 2024-25, these forms can be filled only till March 15, 2025. This means that if you need a certificate of lower TDS deduction for FY 2024-25, then you have only two weeks left.
How to fill Form 13?
Form 13 can be filled only if your income falls under certain sections. Your total tax liability for the year should be less than the TDS being deducted by your employer. If this condition is met, you can apply for Form 13. By applying for Form 13, you can avoid additional TDS deduction, which means you will not have to pay more tax than you have to.
What is the process of filling Form 13
After filling Form 13, the Income Tax Department will issue a certificate stating the correct TDS js’ applicable on your income.
Submit this certificate to your employer, bank, customer etc., so that they deduct TDS only at the correct rate and you do not have to claim tax refund later.
