This IIT student earned Rs 5000 crore in just 15 months, know how to do this feat

Surojit Chatterjee has become the owner of Rs 1,500 crore through Coinbase, America’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. He has experience working in companies ranging from Google to Flipkart.

An alumnus of IITs has become the owner of about Rs 5,000 crore in just 15 months. The name of this person who has worked in big companies like Flipkart and Google is Surojit Chatterjee. In February 2020, he started working as Chief Product Manager at Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the US. In just 15 months, he has earned around $ 180.8 million in Coinbase. This amount in Indian rupees is about 1,500 crores.




After good trading on the coinbase exchange on Wednesday, Surojit’s earnings have come up such a big jump. The special thing is that in the next 5 years, they will also get a share option. Currently, Coinbase shares are worth about $ 465.5 million, or Rs 3,500 crore.

Surojit Chatterjee has done his BSc from IIT Kharagpur. Beginning on Nasdaq, Surojit Chatterjee has benefited immensely with Coinbase founders Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsheim. The share of these three has now crossed $ 16 billion in total. This is known from the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.

Earnings increased due to rise in shares after listing

On Nasdaq, shares of Coinbase started at a price of $ 381 per share with a valuation of $ 100 billion. After that it had risen to $ 430 per share. However, it later closed at $ 328.28. Along with bitcoin, the company has also become public. Bitcoin and Ethereum have the highest share in the trading volume of the company. Both these cryptocurrencies are trading at the highest level ever. This year, the price of bitcoin has almost doubled to cross $ 64,000.

Experience of working in big companies

Chatterjee joined Coinbase in February last year after working at Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc for three years. At Google, he used to work for the company’s shopping platform. He had previously worked for the product and delivery team of mobile search ads and AdSense. He also has experience of working in Flipkart.

Coinbase co-founder Armstrong, after hiring Surojit last year, wrote on the company’s blogpost, ‘If someone has only lived, worked and transacted in the United States, then understanding cross-border transactions for such people I can face difficulties. In such a situation only people outside the US can be helpful for cross-border transactions. ‘
