Toll Tax Without Toll Plaza: Now there’s no need to stop at toll plazas. Cameras and number plate recognition technology will allow the toll to be deducted as the vehicle moves, and without the use of a Fastag.
Toll Tax Without Toll Plaza: The country’s highway network is expanding rapidly, and millions of vehicles travel long distances daily. However, stopping at toll plazas slows down commuters’ journeys. Even with FASTag, queues, traffic jams, and wasted time are commonplace at many locations. Now, new technology is addressing this problem.
The country’s first barrier-free toll booth has been launched in Surat, Gujarat. Vehicles will pass through without stopping, and the toll will be automatically deducted. This system utilizes high-resolution cameras, GPS, and automated number plate recognition technology. This means that toll payment is now going to be completely digital and smooth. Toll Collection Without a Toll Plaza
The new toll plaza system will eliminate barriers at toll plazas. High-resolution cameras installed on the road will read the number plate of every passing vehicle. Even if the vehicle doesn’t have a Fastag, the number plate will still identify the vehicle. The system will register this as a toll violation and send an e-challan to the vehicle owner.
Radar and lidar-based cameras in each lane will provide 360-degree recording. All data will be recorded in real time to the control room and NHAI servers. This means no vehicle will be able to pass without payment. This technology is already being used in countries like Dubai, the US, and Australia.
What if you have a Fastag but your balance is low?
If your vehicle has a Fastag but its balance is low or it is blacklisted, the system will still recognize it. In such cases, the vehicle will be marked as a defaulter. The vehicle owner will receive an alert via SMS and app. Failure to recharge within the stipulated time will result in an e-challan.
This system will also keep an eye on those who deliberately try to evade tolls. The cameras record from every angle, making it difficult to escape. In the future, this barrier-free toll system may be implemented on other highways across the country. This will make travel faster and easier.
