Traffic Challan: If you have old traffic challans or any small case is pending, then today is a day of relief for you. On Saturday, September 13, Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) and Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority are organizing a National Lok Adalat. In this, many cases including traffic challans can be easily settled.
Where and how will the Lok Adalat be held in Delhi?
The Lok Adalat will run from 10 am to 4 pm. It will not be limited to Delhi High Court only, but will also be held in all district courts, debt recovery tribunals, consumer disputes commissions and permanent Lok Adalats. Here cases are resolved quickly and by mutual consent. The special thing is that the court fee is refunded and the decision becomes valid immediately.
What kind of challans will be settled?
This time the focus in Lok Adalat is on traffic challans. Only compoundable challans or notices till 31 May 2025 will be included. There is also a link to download them. traffic.delhipolice.gov.in/notice/lokadalat
60,000 challans can be downloaded every day and the total limit is 1.8 lakh challans. The court complex, court number and timing will be written on the challan slip itself.
How much relief will be available?
A good discount is available on challans in Lok Adalat. Usually 30% to 75% relief is given. How much discount will be available depends on the case and the judge’s decision. The atmosphere here is not like a normal court, rather the officers and lawyers work towards a compromise. The challan or case is closed immediately after paying the fixed amount.
Lok Adalat will also be held in Maharashtra
Along with Delhi, Lok Adalat is also being organized in Mumbai and other cities of Maharashtra today. According to the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, this year Lok Adalats are scheduled to be held on 22 March, 10 May, 13 September and 13 December.
Why is it special?
The biggest advantage of Lok Adalat is that the case is settled quickly, cheaply and without any hassle. It is very helpful especially in cases like traffic challan. If you have old challans, then today is a golden opportunity to settle them for half or one-third of the amount.
