Traffic Rules: Now the hassle of repeated registration will end with BH series! Know how?

Yes, if you repeatedly break traffic rules, then your driving license can be canceled. Delhi Traffic Police has recommended this. Now the approval of Delhi Transport Department is awaited.

In fact, Delhi Traffic Police on Monday recommended cancellation of driving licenses of those habitual traffic rule breakers who have committed three or more serious traffic violations falling under sections 184 and 185 of the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act. This information is according to a letter sent to the Delhi Transport Department.

And whose trouble will increase

According to HT news, a senior traffic police officer aware of the matter said that the traffic police has also requested the transport department to cancel the licenses of those motorists who have been prosecuted for other violations of traffic rules five times in the national capital.

Why this decision was taken

Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Chaudhary said that the decision to seek the approval of the Transport Department to cancel the driving licenses of those who repeatedly violate traffic rules was taken in view of the traffic challans. These challans show that the number of such habitual violators is in lakhs. Also, analysis of road accident data has shown that many such accidents occurred due to traffic violations, such as drunk driving, driving in the opposite direction of traffic, speeding and crossing red lights.

When was the letter sent

This request letter of Delhi Traffic Police was sent to the Secretary-cum-Commissioner of Delhi Transport Department on December 20. Giving information about the case, two senior traffic police officers said that the Transport Department has accepted the recommendations of the traffic police. Its officials are in the process of preparing guidelines to implement strict action aimed at reducing fatal and general road accidents in the city.

Accidents in Delhi

According to traffic police data, 1,431 people died and 5,030 others were injured in 5,416 road accidents including 1,398 fatal accidents till December 15, 2024. It is being told that the Transport Department can implement the recommendations of Delhi Traffic Police. As soon as it is implemented, the traffic police will start sending the details of those who repeatedly violate traffic rules to them for cancellation of license.

Which traffic violations will be costly?

According to the Delhi Traffic Police website, Section 184 of the MV Act deals with penalties for dangerous driving and covers seven different violations.

-Violating stop signals

-Crossing red lights

-Wrongly passing or overtaking other vehicles

-Carrying passengers on goods vehicles

-Using hand-held communication devices while driving

-Driving in a dangerous manner

-Driving against the authorised flow of traffic.

-Section 185 of the MV Act covers drunk driving.
