Big news has arrived for millions of candidates preparing for the UGC NET. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the subject-wise exam schedule for the UGC NET December 2025 session. Candidates who have been waiting for this exam for a long time now have the dates confirmed. The exam will begin on December 31, 2025, and continue until the first week of January 2026.
When will the UGC NET December 2025 exam be held?
According to the latest schedule released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the UGC NET December 2025 exam will be held on December 31, 2025, January 2, January 3, January 5, January 6, and January 7, 2026. The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode at various exam centers across the country.
The exam will be conducted in two shifts each day.
The first shift will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The second shift will be from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
The complete subject-wise schedule has been released.
The UGC NET December session will feature exams for over 80 subjects. Different dates and shifts have been set for each subject. Some subjects will be held on the same day, while others will be scheduled on different dates. Candidates are advised to check the exact date and shift for their subject from the official schedule.
How many papers will there be and what will the pattern be?
The UGC NET exam will consist of two papers. Paper 1 will cover general aptitude, covering questions such as teaching ability, research aptitude, reasoning, and current awareness. Paper 2 will be based on the candidate’s chosen subject. Both papers will be conducted consecutively in the same shift.
When will the exam city intimation slip be released?
The exam city intimation slip will be released for all UGC NET December 2025 candidates approximately 10 days before the exam date. It is likely that this slip will be made available online around December 21 or 22, 2025. The city slip will allow candidates to know the city in which their exam will be held, so they can make their travel and accommodation arrangements in time.
When will the admit card be released?
Admit cards for the UGC NET exam will be released approximately 4 days before the exam. It is important for candidates to note that the city intimation slip will not be considered an admit card.

How to Download the UGC NET City Slip
- First, visit the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
- Go to the Latest News section on the homepage.
- Click on the “Advance City Intimation for UGC-NET December 2025” link.
- Now, enter your application number, password, and security PIN.
- Upon submission, your city intimation slip will open on the screen.
- Download it and print it out for future reference.
