UP Panchayat Chunav 2021: Preparations for holding panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh in four phases, notification may be held from 17 to 20 March

The process of choosing a village government in Uttar Pradesh will now gain momentum. The matter is on track after the Allahabad High Court made a strong stand to conduct a three-tier panchayat election in the state, with the State Election Commission and the State Government commenting. The government has planned to conduct voting in four phases in the state.

The Uttar Pradesh government is now preparing for the next phase to conduct panchayat elections. The Panchayati Raj Department can also issue notification related to elections between March 17 and 20, after completing the reservation process for all seats soon. Yogi Adityanath government of the state is preparing to hold elections within 45 days of the issue of this notification. Under this, voting can be held for the panchayat elections from April 15 to April 30 in the state.

The state government is preparing to hold elections for the posts of village head, block head, area panchayat representative and district panchayat president. There are a total of 58,194 gram sabhas in the state. The District Panchayat has 3051 wards. There are 75,855 area panchayat wards and a total of 7,31,0813 wards of gram panchayat here.

The number of total voters in the Gram Panchayat elections in the state is more than 12 crore. Earlier in 2015, Panchayat elections were held in two phases and eight phases in the state. This time, preparations are to be held in one phase and four. Significantly, the Allahabad High Court had ordered the Panchayat election to determine the reserved seats in the Panchayat elections by 17 March. Apart from this, the court had ordered the panchayat elections to be held by April 30. This instruction was given by the Allahabad High Court after hearing the petition of Vinod Upadhyay.
