UP Panchayat Chunav: UP Panchayati Raj Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said – Panchayat reservation policy this week

The three-tier panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted as per the schedule given by the High Court. The reservation policy in panchayats will be released this week. On Monday, Panchayati Raj Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary denied the delay in panchayat elections. On the questions of journalists in the media center, he said that due to corona infection, panchayat elections could not be held on time but preparations have been completed. Reorganization and delimitation of Panchayats has been completed. 




Panchayati Raj Minister Bhupendra Singh said that after the delimitation the number of area panchayats in the state has increased to 826 and area panchayat members will be 75855. Gram Panchayats in the state have come down from 59074 to 58194. In addition, 3051 ward members will be elected in 75 district panchayats. At the same time, ward number in gram panchayats has come down from 744558 to 731813. The minister says that elections will be held according to the schedule set by the High Court. After issuing the reservation policy this week, the list of reserved panchayats will be prepared. Arrangements will be made to make elections fair and transparent.

Steps of Panchayats towards self-sufficiency: Panchayati Raj Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary counted the achievements of the department for four years. Reiterating the pledge of all-round development of rural areas, Panchayati Raj Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary claimed that the steps of the panchayats have now moved rapidly towards self-sufficiency. Giving credit of achievements to the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said that due to better teamwork, Uttar Pradesh stood first in toilet construction for three consecutive years. A total of 2.18 crore toilets were constructed under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin, which created employment by creating about 19.62 crore man days. He also informed about the completion of construction of 43,830 community toilets in the state. On October 2, 2019, despite the state being made open defecation free, it was also said that the campaign to build toilets for new families will continue.

The morale was boosted by various awards: The minister said that in the year 2017-18, the silver medal of Scotch Award was given for maximum toilet construction and for raising awareness. Apart from this, an incentive amount of Rs 735 crore was received from the Government of India for better performance in the National Annual Rural Sanitation Survey. Award for Best Performance in Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan. Second prize in the construction of Swachh Sundar Toilet, Bareilly and Aligarh, two districts of the state, have received first and second prizes at the national level. In the Panchayat Empowerment Awards, in the last four years, six District Panchayats, 12 Kshetra Panchayats and 87 Gram Panchayats were awarded for outstanding work and also received the e-Governance Award.

Training to six lakh panchayat representatives: The minister said that a total of 6,09,667 panchayat representatives and personnel have been imparted training to promote e-governance. 3145 laptops will be provided to make Gram Panchayat digital. Uttar Pradesh is the first state to implement the PFMS system. He gave detailed information about spending of money received from 14th and 15th State Finance Commission.
