UP Panchayat Election: Election Commission released revised program, know what is the date

Enthusiasts about the panchayat elections in UP have intensified. After the instructions from the High Court, the State Election Commission has now issued a revised program to get the work done accordingly. In which voters in Moradabad will be able to get their votes till February 23. After this, claims objections will be taken from March 24 to March 2 and will be settled by March 8. The final publication will be done on 15 March.




The State Election Commissioner sent a letter and could not be included in the voters list due to the new delimitation of some gram panchayats in the urban area. Therefore such survivors will be made voters in special revision. After this, the voter list will be published on 24 February. Claims and objections will be settled from 24 February to 2 March, from 3 to 8 March. After the disposal of claims and objections, a time has been fixed from March 9 to March 14 to place them in the original list, after which the final publication will be done on March 15.

What the High Court has said: 

The High Court has directed the State Election Commission to conduct panchayat elections in the state by April 30. This order has been given by a bench of Justice MN Bhandari and Justice RR Agrawal on the petition of Vinod Upadhyay. The court directed to hold the election of Pradhani by 30 April and asked to hold the election of the block chief in May. The court has directed the state government to complete the reservation work for the panchayat elections by March 17. Also, the court has asked for the election of Pradhan by 30 April, the election of district panchayat members and block heads by 15 May. The court had sought an answer from the Election Commission on Wednesday. After presenting the program of the Election Commission, the Commission sought a response from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, which was heard on Thursday. The program which was presented in the High Court by the Election Commission It was said that elections will be held by May. On this, the High Court clearly said that the proposal for holding panchayat elections in May cannot be accepted at first sight. The court said that as per rules, elections were to be held by 13 January 2021.




In its program, the Election Commission told the High Court that on January 22, the voter list for the panchayat elections has been prepared. By January 28, the work of delimitation has also been completed but the reservation of seats has to be finalized by the state government. For this reason, the election program has not been released so far. The commission said that after the completion of the reservation for all seats, the election will take 45 days.
