UP Pnachayat Chunav: Voting continues in 53 districts for the election of District Panchayat President, counting of votes will take place in the evening

Earlier on Tuesday, district panchayat presidents were declared elected unopposed in 22 districts of Uttar Pradesh, except for Etawah district, in which 21 elected presidents belong to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.




Voting for the post of Zilla Panchayat President began in 53 districts of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday amid tight security arrangements. According to the information received from the State Election Commission, in the three-tier panchayat elections of Uttar Pradesh, voting will start from 11 am to 3 pm in 53 districts and counting will start after 3 pm.

Chandauli, Hapur, Sultanpur, Mirzapur, Rae Bareli, Mathura, Firozabad, Bijnor, Hamirpur, Muzaffarnagar, Sonbhadra, Ballia, Ghazipur, Unnao, Hardoi, Kushinagar, Mainpuri, Pratapgarh, Kannauj, Jalaun, Maharajganj, Sant Kabirnagar, Lakhimpur , Prayagraj, Amethi, Bhadohi, Barabanki, Farrukhabad, Sambhal, Basti, Fatehpur, Shamli, Aligarh, Jaunpur, Kasganj, Azamgarh, Siddharthnagar, Etah, Ayodhya, Rampur, Sitapur, Auraiya, Mahoba, Fatehpur, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Ambedkarnagar , Bareilly, Kaushambi, Hathras, Deoria and Lucknow are voting for the post of District Panchayat President on Saturday.

Earlier on Tuesday, district panchayat presidents were declared elected unopposed in 22 districts of Uttar Pradesh, except for Etawah district, where 21 elected presidents belong to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Samajwadi Party has won in Etawah.

State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar had told on Tuesday that 22 districts of the state – Saharanpur, Bahraich, Etawah, Chitrakoot, Agra, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Moradabad, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Banda, Shravasti, Balrampur, In Gonda, Gorakhpur, Mau, Varanasi, Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur, uncontested elections have been held for the post of District Panchayat President.
