You don’t need to call a third party or use any other app. BHIM UPI offers a feature that allows payments even when your bank account is empty. Let’s explore what this feature is and how it works.
BHIM UPI’s UPI Circle feature
BHIM UPI has a new feature called UPI Circle. It allows you to make payments from your UPI account to known people, including family and friends. To do this, the user must first add the people they want to allow to make transactions from their account to the Circle. Users also have the option to set a limit for these transactions and can approve each transaction beforehand. This feature will be helpful for elderly family members or those who don’t have a bank account or don’t use UPI with their accounts.
How to set up a Circle?
To set up a circle on BHIM UPI, open the app and tap “UPI Circle.” Select the “Add Family & Friends” option. You can add the desired user to whom you want to grant permission to transact on your account. This person can be added using their phone number and UPI ID. You’ll then see the options for “Spend with Limit” and “Approval Required.” Select the desired option and confirm. If you’ve selected “Spend with Limit,” the person added to the circle won’t be able to spend more than that limit. If “Approval Required” selects, you’ll need to approve the payment before each transaction.
