UPI Service Close: HDFC Bank customers will not be able to use UPI service on this day, know why

Bank UPI Service: HDFC Bank is the second largest bank in the country. It is the largest bank in the private sector. Some of its UPI related services will be closed on February 8. The bank says that it will put the system on maintenance for its UPI services. Due to this, customers will not get the service for some time. This means that during this time, customers will not be able to use many services including UPI transactions. Let’s know when and how this will happen.

When will the service be disrupted

HDFC Bank’s UPI services will not be available from 12:00 midnight to 3:00 am IST on February 8, 2025 (3 hours). Meaning, you will not be able to transact with UPI from 12 midnight to 3 am on February 8. For more information about this, you will have to check the bank’s website.

Which services will be affected?

During this time, UPI transactions on HDFC Bank current/savings accounts, RuPay credit cards, HDFC mobile banking app and third party application providers (TPAPs) supported by HDFC Bank for UPI will be affected. Also, merchant UPI transactions through HDFC Bank will also be affected. That is, if you pay a shopkeeper through UPI, then that too will not be possible during this time.

“What is UPI?” UPI i.e. Unified Payment Interface is a smartphone based fund transfer system. Through this, customers of participating banks can send/receive money using a unique UPI ID. Imagine, you have a special identity card with which you can send and receive money without any bank details!

“What is UPI ID?” UPI ID is an ID that is uniquely linked to your bank account and can be used to send or receive payments via UPI. For example, abc@hdfcbank where “abc” can be your mobile number. This is your UPI address, just like your email address.
