The central government launched the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) for its employees on April 1, 2025. This scheme provides a fixed pension. The UPS pension scheme is different from the National Pension System (NPS). Employees eligible under UPS will receive 50% of their average basic salary of the last 12 months as pension at the time of retirement, provided they have completed at least 25 years of service.

Last date to apply for UPS – June 30, 2025

If central government employees do not apply by June 30, 2025, they will be placed under NPS by default, which is based on the investment of pension amount.

What if the last date is missed?
