US Entry Documents List: Due to changes in immigration rules in America, students are always worried that they may be stopped during re-entry into the country.
Tips for Entry in the US: Thousands of students are returning to the US after their winter break. During this time, they should keep all necessary documents with them to avoid any problems upon entering the US. US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials check all student documents at the airport. If even a single document is missing, the student is barred from entering the country. So, let’s talk about five documents that will make re-entry into the US easier.
Passport
F-1 visa or student visa holders must have their passport with them. This passport must be valid for at least six months. The passport will help US officials identify the country the student is coming from. Therefore, it’s important to check the validity of your passport before traveling to the US. (Pexels)
I-20 Form
Students must also have an I-20 form, which stands for “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Status.” This form must be signed by an official from your university. This signature must be valid for 12 months. Students should keep a printout of the I-20 form with them.
Valid visa
Students must have a valid F-1 visa stamp in their passport. The visa must be valid on the date of arrival in the United States. If your passport does not have a valid visa, you will be detained at the airport and may be deported.
Financial Proof
Upon departure to the United States, students must have documents proving their valid status. They must have funds equivalent to the required funds stated on the I-20 form. Proof of funds can be provided through a bank statement, scholarship letter, or department-issued stipend document.
Enrollment Verification
Students must have documents proving enrollment verification. This includes an academic transcript or certificate of enrollment and a document indicating student status. These documents demonstrate that the student has been admitted. OPT students must have an EAD.
