The visa of foreign nationals who break the law in America can be cancelled forever. The US Embassy in New Delhi has issued this warning by issuing a statement. The embassy has clearly stated that if a foreign national is found involved in criminal activities in America, his visa can be cancelled for life and that person can be declared ineligible to come to America again.

The embassy said in a statement issued on the social media platform ‘X’, “The United States is a country with law and order. Crimes like attack on foreign nationals will not be tolerated. If you break the law in America, your US visa can be cancelled and you can be ineligible to go to America for life.”

This warning has not been given for the first time. Earlier in the month of July, the US Embassy had issued many similar warnings.

In a post on July 22, the US Embassy said, “If you are arrested for assault, domestic violence or other crimes while in the United States, your visa may be revoked and you may be ineligible for future US visas. Visas are not a right, but a privilege that can be revoked if you break the law.”

Similarly, on July 16, the embassy warned, “Committing crimes such as assault, theft or burglary in the United States will not only lead to legal problems, but it may also revoke your visa and make you ineligible for future US visas. The US values law and order and expects foreign visitors to follow all US laws.”

Meanwhile, Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also appealed to Indians traveling abroad to follow local laws in the weekly press briefing on July 17. He said, “Our request has always been that any Indian citizen who travels abroad should follow the laws and regulations of that country and create a good image of India.”

He further added, “Whether the person is a citizen of that country or a foreigner, it is his responsibility to follow the laws of that country. When our people go abroad, we appeal to them to respect the laws of that country and present a good image of India to the world through them.”

This new warning is being seen as an increasing strictness on the part of the US government on foreigners, especially when the number of immigrants in America and the legal challenges associated with them are increasing. In such a situation, it becomes necessary that Indian citizens or students traveling on American visa should not only be aware of the American laws, but also follow them completely.
