Vaishno Devi Yatra Suspended: Rain and cloudburst incidents have caused havoc in Jammu and Kashmir. In view of heavy rains, the Vaishno Devi Yatra has been temporarily suspended till further notice. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained disrupted due to heavy rains for the third consecutive day.
Traffic stopped on National Highway
In fact, traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was stopped as a precaution after stones fell from the hills of Chanderkot, Kela Mod and Battery Chashma in Ramban district. At the same time, according to officials, almost all the rivers and drains are flowing above or close to the danger mark, due to which many low-lying areas and roads of the city have been submerged.
Cloud burst in Doda
Let us tell you that cloud burst in Doda caused devastation. Due to this more than 10 houses were washed away and there is an atmosphere of panic among the local people. In view of this, the Vaishno Devi Yatra has been stopped.

CM gave instructions to stay alert
Earlier, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the situation in various parts of Jammu is very serious after heavy rains and he directed the administration to maintain high alert. Along with this, the CM also instructed to take stock of flood control measures in Jammu.
Instructions given to provide additional funds
Apart from this, CM Omar Abdullah has also issued instructions to provide additional funds to the Deputy Commissioners to meet emergency restoration work and other requirements.
Highest rainfall in Kathua
According to the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall was recorded in Kathua district during the last 24 hours. 1556 mm of rain was recorded in Kathua. After this, 99.8 mm of rain was recorded in Bhaderwah of Doda, 81.5 mm in Jammu and 68.8 mm in Katra. The Meteorological Department has also advised people to stay away from water bodies and landslide prone areas.
